Message from Mayor Paul Rosenberg – Tropical Storm Isaias

Posted on August 4, 2020

Good evening Rye Brook residents.  As if 2020 couldn’t get any better, Tropical Storm Isaias really did tremendous damage today to Westchester County and Rye Brook.

There are approximately 699 homes (approximately 18%) without power in the Village.  In fact, approximately 24% of Con Edison’s Westchester customers have no power.  With the large number of roads closed throughout Westchester County, it is very unlikely that large residential restoration of power will occur this evening.

In addition to the large number of homes without power, at this point, we have 14 roadways that are closed due to downed wires or downed trees with wires on them.  These roads cannot be opened until Con Edison clears the wires, which will be starting tonight.  The best thing you can do this evening is to stay inside and please give our highway department and Con Edison the ability to open roadways that are blocked by downed wires.  Our police and fire departments, and EMS need these roads to be opened to deal with any potential emergencies.

Finally, when outside, it is critical that you assume any downed wires are live and stay clear of those wires.

I will provide updates to you via email and voicemail blasts as soon as we get more accurate timing on Con Edison restoration activities.  If you don’t already receive our email alerts, please subscribe by visiting ryebrookny.gov/alerts from any mobile device.

Thank you.
