Dear Rye Brook Community Members,

On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.  2023 was very successful in Rye Brook.  While it rained on a few Village events, others such as the annual Rye Brook Birthday celebration saw great weather and attendance.  Hopefully many who are reading this were able to attend the summer concerts, ice cream Fridays, Fit Walks, or any of our other programs.  Once again the Village was tax cap compliant, and received a clean audit.  Our Public Works department was diligent in leaf collection, and remains at the ready in the event of snow.  Within Village government, there were a number of retirements and new hires.  We thank those who retired for their service, and welcome the new employees, who will help continue to provide great services to the community.

We also look ahead to what 2024 has to bring to Rye Brook.

  1. We have received applications and hope the developers continue to move forward on two large commercial properties in the Village, one at 900 King St. and the other at the former Doral Arrowwood property.
  2. A seasonal gas leaf blow ban that was passed in 2023 goes into effect on May 1st, 2024.  The Board of Trustees has balanced environmental benefits with practicality of the legislation.
  3. A new online application system will be implemented in 2024 to allow residents to apply online for permits.
  4. With the budget process underway, we look to stay under the NYS tax cap – something that the Village has done in 11 of the 12 years since it was implemented.
  5. The Village will continue to reinvest in its infrastructure, focusing on road resurfacing and sewer projects.
  6. We will continue to focus on flood mitigation projects, and for those residents who are eligible, we look forward to completing the federal buyout program.

The Board of Trustees and the personnel who work in the Village remain ready to serve the community, and we look forward to the coming year.
